Peace through courage

Peace through courage

“Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

I like the sentiment, but I think being a soldier requires a different type of courage.

You’re right and I think that way myself sometimes too. I think that’s why RWE says that it’s “some of the same” kind and not entirely the same. For me, being a “soldier” emotionally (and being courageous) has different meaning to being a soldier at war. And it can seem a little odd to put the two together. But I think what soldiers do is challenge themselves emotionally, physically and psychologically and they break their limits and take courses of action to complete their missions?, in many ways it’s good to do that or at least good in theory/as a sentiment – but it depends on motives and morality when we compare this courage to a soldier’s courage. Interesting point anyhow. What do you think about courage and what type of courage do you think we need in our daily lives?

Honestly I haven’t thought of courage in our everyday life much. The moments of anxiety or fear are much easier to find than moments of courage.

Hmmm, I hope you find more courage soon 🙂 Do you think it’s possible to find it?

Very encouraging. I like that your blog focuses on where we can be at peace and not freak out over what everyone is telling us. Thanks for visiting Feathered Spirit and liking my blog!
